Warped Baseboards Las Vegas
Warped, buckled, or separated baseboards in a Las Vegas home are a moisture indicator. Baseboard trim made of wood or MDF absorbs water and swells, causing it to buckle away from the wall surface or separate at joints. This happens when water has reached the wall base from a floor-level water event, from a plumbing leak that ran down the interior of the wall, or from chronic moisture wicking up from a slab with elevated moisture content.
Warped baseboard is a symptom of a moisture problem, not the problem itself. The drywall behind and above the baseboard has been in contact with the same moisture that warped the trim. In most cases where baseboard warping is significant enough to be visually obvious, the lower twelve to eighteen inches of drywall behind it is also affected. Whether it has developed mold depends on how long it has been wet.
How Long Has It Been There
Baseboard begins to warp within 24 to 48 hours of sustained water contact. Visible separation and buckling usually takes several days to develop to the point where it is noticeable. If the warping is pronounced and has been noticed for more than a week or two, the drywall behind it has been wet for at least that long and mold establishment is likely. We assess with moisture metering and provide a scope that is honest about what needs to come out.
What We Do
We identify the moisture source, assess the extent of moisture in the wall assembly, and provide a written scope for remediation. We coordinate baseboard and drywall replacement. Read more about our water damage restoration service. Call (702) 442-1126.
