Wall Water Damage Las Vegas
Water damage in a wall in a Las Vegas home is almost never limited to what is visible on the surface. The surface of the wall the painted face of the drywall dries quickly in the desert climate. The insulation inside the wall cavity, the paper face of the back side of the drywall, and the framing do not dry on the same timeline. By the time any visible symptom appears discoloration, bubbling paint, soft spots the assembly has typically been elevated long enough for mold to begin establishing.
Identifying the full extent of wall water damage requires instruments, not a visual inspection. Thermal imaging shows temperature differentials that indicate moisture retention inside the wall cavity. Moisture metering through small test probes confirms actual moisture content at depth. Together they allow us to map the full extent of the damage without opening the entire wall, which lets us make accurate scope decisions before any demolition begins.
What Determines Whether the Wall Needs to Open
Moisture readings at depth determine whether wall material can be dried in place or needs to come out. Drywall that has been wet less than 48 hours and has not fully saturated through its thickness can sometimes be dried with directed commercial equipment through small openings. Drywall that has been wet longer, that shows mold growth on the surface, or that has moisture readings showing full saturation through the core needs to be removed. We tell you which situation you are in based on actual measurements.
